In this post, learn how to make a DIY, natural cleanser with essential oils. It’s super easy, affordable, and my skin loves it!
I’m so excited to share with you guys my very first oily DIY – an all natural face cleanser! so if you’ve been following me on insta you know that I’ve been getting into essential oils recently. One of the first things I’ve learned is that there is SO much more to essential oils than a nice smelling room. If you are using high quality oils (the only ones I use are from Young Living) you can not only put them on your skin, but you can also INGEST many of them.
Crazy, right?
I always had in my head that any kind of fragrance on skin = irritation/inflammation which is a big NO NO. But…YL’s essential oils are not fragrance grade (like most) they are therapeutic grade…meaning they are safe for skin!! It’s always a good idea to test the oils out on an area with sensitive skin (i.e. the back of your arm), and you always want to make sure you follow the instructions, ex if you need to dilute the EO with a carrier oil like jojoba or coconut oil before applying.
So with that being said, I tried my hand at making my first (I’m sure of many) DIY projects with my new essential oils..a facial cleanser!
It only takes a few simple ingredients, is super gentle, and leaves my face feeling SO fresh and clean. And I have to say…it has totally calmed my skin. And it did so like..immediately. I was amazed.
I always tend to have a little redness on my lower cheeks (kind of like a mild rosacea) and literally after using this like 1 or 2 times that redness TOTALLY calmed down. And has stayed that way. And I’m still using all of the exact same products, nothing has changed except for switching out to my all natural cleanser. Who knew my cleanser could be the culprit of my stubborn redness all along….*sigh*
DIY, ALL NATURAL CLEANSER:
- 1/2 cup unscented castile soap (I like this one)
- 1 tsp jojoba oil or rose hip oil or argan oil
- 5 drops Frankincense
- 5 drops Lavender
- 5 drops Lemon
Instructions:
- Add all ingredients to a 15 oz FOAMING soap bottle (I love this one)
- Fill the rest up with water (distilled if you have it)
- Give it a light shake before each use!
That’s it guys. Super simple & easy. It’s completely natural & non-toxic, so you don’t have to worry about any potentially harmful chemicals or compounds coming in contact with your body. I also love how I can just keep refilling the same bottle over and over when I’m running low 🙂 AND you can even use this for hand soap too!
Hope you guys enjoy this first EO DIY! If you’re interested in starting on your own essential oil journey (you absolutely won’t regret it) you can find out how to do so here.
