In this post, learn how to make my DIY, all natural lash and brow serum to support hair growth.
I’m so excited to share with you guys the recipe for my DIY, all natural lash and brow serum. It’s amazing! If you guys are new around here, I’m pretty obsessed with lashes. And I’m not talking the false kind.
A couple years ago I became pretty determined/obsessed with growing my own lashes out, and it all started after I had lash extensions for a while (about 9 months). Eventually I decided I was over the extensions, so I let them all fall out…and I was left with the shortest, stubbiest, saddest looking lashes I had ever seen. They were like little nubs, LOL. I was kind of horrified!
At this point – I decided to go all in at making my natural lashes the best they could be because I did not want to go back to extensions and have this happen all over again. It was at this time that I started using a lash serum from a department store – it was expensive, but man it WORKED. I used it for a few months and it totally rehabbed my poor stubby little lashes.
It’s honestly been a while since I’ve used the serum (probably a year now) and while my lashes were still looking pretty good, I wanted to see if there was a way that I could support them and maybe help them fill out & lengthen even more. Once I started getting into essential oils, I saw that there was a DIY lash serum you could make with just a couple of ingredients. It was on my list of DIYs to make, but for some reason it took me a little while to get around to it. Then – my sister said she had made the serum, and after 2 weeks really saw a difference. I don’t know why I was so skeptical about this natural serum working (maybe because I saw the one that was probably filled with chemicals do wonders for my lashes lol) but when I eventually saw her I was like WOAH your lashes look amazing!!! They were thicker, longer, and had so much more volume.
Soooo now I have finally made it, have been using it for a couple weeks, and OMG I have certainly seen a difference! I have noticed my lashes look fuller along my lash line, and also I can tell they have definitely gotten longer – when I apply it every night I can definitely tell that they have more length!
DIY LASH + BROW SERUM RECIPE:
Lavender EO
Cedarwood EO
Rosemary EO
Empty mascara tubes (find silver ones here and gold ones here)
- Add Castor Oil to mascara tube
- Add 5 drops each Lavender, Cedarwood, and Rosemary (it’s always best to start small with oils and work your way up..if you are new to oils add 2 drops each)
- Apply to lashes (like you would mascara)and comb through brows every night before bed
If you don’t have Rosemary, you can leave it out! When I originally made this serum, I just used Lavender & Cedarwood. Each of these oils are great for supporting hair growth, so eventually I started adding rosemary as well. These oils can also be used on your scalp too – check out my DIY mermaid hair spray for that recipe!
A quick note – I often get asked if I have found glass mascara tubes, and I have not. I use plastic and am personally totally okay with that. There are no citrus oils in this recipe so I’m not concerned about using plastic!
And another note – I only use Young Living essential oils, and you can ready more about why here if you are interested. Since these oils come in contact with your skin & will be near your precious little eye balls, I just want to give you guys a heads up that quality is super important!
You can whip up the serum in about 2 minutes flat, it costs basically pennies in comparison to what I used to buy (if only I knew about oils a couple years ago!!) and it’s is totally free of any toxic chemicals! Total win-win.
